John Harrison goes to Church – and it’s not even Sunday. On this occasion though he had good reason to celebrate, as the legendary Pee Wee Ellis, ably assisted by Lillian Boutte, stopped off at St Paul’s Church in Friesdorf on Thursday to deliver his Jazz message. Dear Lord, let us play!

JazzTube 2013
3Songsbonn is pleased to announce that ‘Jazz Tube’ will be back again this year.
Between May and October of last year many a commuters hectic journey home was smoothed by the sound of Jazz music wafting up the Ubahn platforms in Bonn. Culmination of the Season was a concert at The Harmonie for the three most popular bands.
Stadtwerke is continuing with it’s sponsorship of this event in 2013 and is currently looking for musicians to take part this Summer. If you are a Jazz musician around 20 to 35 years old and would like to enter, then Thomas Kimmerle of JazzInConcert would like to hear from you.
Jazz in Bonn – 2013
2013 has got off to a frosty start – not just weather but also Jazz-wise where Concerts are currently rather thin on the ground. Fear not though because things ARE happening and local promoters have already cooked up some ideas for the coming Season but, as always, your support as Jazz fan is crucial for survival. Walter Schnabel provides the details…
Last Stop onThe Jazz Tube 2012
It seems like only yesterday that I descended the steps of Museumsmeile Tube Station en-route to a jazz date with Rod Mason and came face to face with a small group of people huddled round a charming young lady with an even more charming voice. The voice I discovered belonged to Maya Fayeeda, and on Sunday evening I heard it again amongst the winners of this years Jazz Tube at Bonn Harmonie.
Jazz Tube August
If you caught some cool Jazz from the JazzTube at one of Bonn’s Subway Stations on Friday (24 August) you might like to vote for the musicians behind the music. The winning Band will appear at the Harmonie in October.

Thunder, Lightning & Jazztube
It was the hottest, sunniest, day of the year – until 5pm.
Good news for the people in Bonn Centre though was that they could take refuge in one of Bonn’s Tube Stations and not only keep dry, but hear some great Jazz too.
July’s offering from the SWB sponsored Jazztube was as varied and entertaining as ever and choosing the best for an appearance at The Harmonie in October is going to be very, very difficult.
Zaz at Kunst!Rasen
The man in the front row with the red heart-shaped balloon is sure of it: ‘Ich Liebe Dich’ it says. Behind him are some 7000 people who are sure of it too. If you love beautiful songs, beautifully sung then you’d love her too. Zaz was back in Bonn on Sunday and even the Sun had his hat on at Kunst!Rasen for the Show.
JazzTube Stop Two
Friday (22 June) saw the second stage of the SWB Jazz competition JazzTube which brings Jazz talent to the Ubahn Stations of Bonn, with the most popular Act getting a coveted concert in October at the Harmonie. Just listening to two of the latest entrants left me with the phrase ‘Chalk & Cheese’ on my mind. How can you compare a Jazz vocalist (Filippa Gojo) to a Trombone player (Lisa Pflaum)? You can’t of course, so maybe it’s better just to enjoy the music and know that the future of Jazz is in safe hands in the Bonn/Cologne region at least.
