2013 has got off to a frosty start – not just weather but also Jazz-wise where Concerts are currently rather thin on the ground. Fear not though because things ARE happening and local promoters have already cooked up some ideas for the coming Season but, as always, your support as Jazz fan is crucial for survival. Walter Schnabel provides the details…
An early highlight is sure to be February’s appearance by Dr Jazz Ambulance at the Harmonie on 22 February. The ‘Doctors’ will be premiering their brand new CD ‘Stealin’ Apples’ (and I don’t mean IPads!). The CD won’t be available via the Apple store, or for that matter any other store, only at concerts by the band. A tip: Tickets on the night will be more expensive, so if you get a ticket in advance you will save some money towards the CD!)
Another February highlight will be Laia Genc Trio at Antiquarius on Bonner Talweg on 21 February. It’s only a small shop/concert room so get your ticket early.
Looking forward into the year a I’m sure be JAZZFEST BONN 2013 from 3 to 11 May will draw a lot of interest. In fact rumour has it that two concerts are already sold out for that – so check it out before it’s too late.
JAZZ IM BIERGARTEN is always a popular part of the Bonn Jazz calendar. This year it will start on 10 May but no panic on tickets this time yet. It’s time to get back to shoveling away snow from the driveway and dream about cool beer and hot Jazz at the Parkrestaurant.
