KunstRasen Bonn 2026: Your Guide to This Summer’s Open-Air Concert Season

Summer is back on the Rhine, and so is the KUNST!RASEN. Every year since 2012 the open-air site in Bonn-Gronau, right on the riverbank near the Posttower, turns into one of the region’s biggest stages — and the 2026 season is no different, stacked with names spanning pop, rock, schlager, and everything in between.

From early July through late August, the KunstRasen lineup will be mixing big international names with regional favourites: there’s Cologne carnival energy from Brings, eighties nostalgia from Madness and OMD, disco royalty in Nile Rodgers & Chic, and homegrown rock from Fury in the Slaughterhouse, who return for a second Bonn date after selling out last year. Schlager fans get Roland Kaiser and Roy Bianco & Die Abbrunzati Boys, while Donots bring back their family-friendly “Kiddie Slam” for younger audiences. There’s also the free Klassik!Picknick, featuring the Beethoven Orchester Bonn for an afternoon of classical music on the grass.

The Season begins on 3 July with popular tartan-clad Kölschrockers Brings

Getting There by Public Transport

The KunstRasen sits right by the Posttower, and the organisers actively encourage visitors to leave the car at home — on-site parking is limited and costs around 7–8€ per evening. Public transport is the easy option, and it’s a short walk from the stops to the gate but do remember that travel in Bonn is rather precarious at present so check the below routes in advance for sudden changes before travelling:

  • U-Bahn (Stadtbahn): From Bonn Hauptbahnhof, take Line 16 (towards Bad Godesberg/Stadthalle), Line 63 (towards Bad Godesberg/Bonn Gronau), or Line 66 (towards Bad Honnef or Ramersdorf). Get off at Heussallee/Museumsmeile or Rheinaue and follow the signs — it’s about a 15-minute walk from either stop.
  • Bus: Line 611 runs from the Hauptbahnhof bus platforms directly to Kurt-Schumacher-Straße, right by the Posttower, for the return trip. Lines 610 and 611 also stop at Johanniterkrankenhaus, a short walk from the venue. Note that buses run only hourly on weekends, so the U-Bahn is usually faster.
  • On foot or by bike: The venue sits directly on the Rhine cycle path, so walking or cycling along the riverside from the city centre is a popular (and scenic) option. Marked bike parking is available on-site, plus a supervised area for e-bikes near the entrance.

If you do drive, follow the signposted “KUNST!RASEN Parken” route to the nearest available car park or garage. Free parking exists nearby too, but please respect residents-only zones — Bonn’s Ordnungsamt patrols them closely!

What You Can Bring

Security checks (bag checks and pat-downs) are standard at the entrance, so it helps to travel light and arrive early. Bags and backpacks are allowed up to A4 size, and you may bring one sealed drink (PET bottle or Tetrapak, max 0.5l) plus a blanket to sit on. Food, however, can’t be brought in — except small sweets and baby/toddler food — since there’s a full range of food and drink stalls on site (cash and card accepted everywhere). Items that are not permitted include glass bottles, cans, hard packaging, chairs and stools of any kind, stick umbrellas, laser pointers, fireworks, and any object that could be used as a projectile or weapon. Cameras and recording equipment are also generally not allowed. For the full list of rules, see the official KunstRasen house rules.
