Due to the ongoing Covid restrictions, Bonn’s popular World Music Festival – Over The Border has been moved to September. Organizer Manuel Banha has though put together what he refers to as a ‘Digital Days’ version and it has lots of promise. The concert streams were recently recorded at an audience-less Bonn Harmonie and feature a selection of musicians of the festival supported by a reduced formation of the Local Ambassadors around Roland Peil.
Guests of the Local Ambassadors include Marcus Schinkel (Voyager IV) and Daniel Manrique-Smith (Jin Jim) alongside Gert Kapo, Vincent Themba, Stella Tonon, Naomi, David Joris, Ivo Guedes and Carmen Bown. Guests of the festival will be joined by Sven Hammond with his singer Jared Grant, Noemi Waysfield, Suzana Pais and Boticelli Baby singer Marlon Bösherz.

Tickets for the Digital Days version of Over The Border cost EUR 9.90 for the entire row of concert streams.

This year’s planned ‘Over The Border’ Festival has sadly had to be moved to 2021. The good news just out though is that the organizers of the popular music diversity festival have now been able to still schedule one event in 2020. Local ambassadors are already a tradition at the Festival. The formation around Fanta4 percussionist Roland Peil, who has been part of the festival since its inception, will be the evening’s main guests, but there will be lots of top-class additional guests to enjoy too. In order to comply with hygiene considerations in view of Corona Virus the concert will now take place at Bonn Brückenforum on 19 September at 8pm, seating and tables will allow the correct distancing of attendees. Note too that everyone who has already purchased tickets (the concert was originally scheduled to kick off the Festival in March 2020) should contact Manuel Bahna promoter at firstname.lastname@example.org for registration and table reservations.
Bonn presents itself as an International City, and the yearly ‘Over the Border’ Festival proves this in mouthwatering musical style.
The Festival this year will run from 20th through to 30 March and take place in various locations: Harmonie, Pantheon, Telekom Forum, Rheinbühne and there is also a concert by Noami Waisfeld in Dottendorf (great to see this establishing itself as a venue). There will be more details to come about the shows and the performers – one of these is already a popular live performer in Bonn – Sven Hammond is famous for his explosive live shows at the Harmonie in recent years.
