Good news for users of the Deutsche Bahn is a rarity but here’s some: Jazz Tube is back!
The fifth season of this highly succesful competition Begins on 26 August and finishes with the Grand Finale at Bonn LVR-Landesmuseum on 23 October. In between are six days packed with music at the tram stops Bonn Hauptbahnhof, Universität/Markt and Heusallee/Museumsmeile (the latter on Fridays only)
For times and places check the Jazztube website HERE and If you’re thinking “Jazz what?” or want to know more of the story behind the competition there is an interview with founder and organizer Thomas Kimmerle HERE

Music in the heart of Bonn? Saturday’s Stadtmusik Day was more a case of putting the heart back in Bonn to my ears and eyes. Five stages presenting largely local musical talent all day and it seems we were still only skimming the surface of what Bonn and the surrounding area has to offer.
Here we are then at week two in the Stadtgarten Season at Alten Zoll and it’s going to be a busy weekend. On Saturday there is a full day of music in Bonn City Centre for free but tonight there’s ‘only’ the one free concert, featuring Young Cologne Band Louder Than Wolves and the Alternative Pop sound of 16 Tage – both presented by ‘Die Musikstation’ Kleinen Muck e.V.
Bonn’s Alten Zoll isn’t the only place near the University that workmen have been frantically re-constructing. Last week saw the Stadtgarten concert stage arising from the ash of the boules courtyard next to the Biergarten and last night saw the first concert of the new season with Belgian band The Herfsts and Bonn’s own Steal a Taxi on hand to ease the stress of a hard week’s work.
