For those not wanting to wait (and those not wanting to pay 70+ Euros for a Kunstrasen ticket next July) this was the perfect Deep Purple presentation. Some compromise is inevitable of course, but how much and where? As Purpendicular With Purple original Ian Paice on drums step onto the Harmonie stage we are about to find out…
Purple’s legendary vocalist Ian Gillan at Kunstrasen in 2013
“We all went down to Gronau. On the River Rhine shoreline…”
Legendary Rockers Deep Purple will be bringing hits like ‘Child In Time’ and ‘Woman From Tokyo’ to the Kunstrasen stage on 10 July 2020.
Not many bands can boast the power of Ian Gillan and Co after over 50 years in the business. The band’s show in 2013 saw a guest appearance from Warren Haynes on a little rock ditty you may have heard of – Smoke on the Water.
It’s been a busy (expensive) week for fans of Classic Rock with Neil Young bringing in 13000+ in Cologne, Carlos Santana making a rare appearance in Bonn, and in between Deep Purple at Kunst!Rasen… Even for the wealthy Rockfan over fifty it’s still physically hard on tired legs. I made my stand (pardon the pun) at Kunst!Rasens ‘Classic Rock Nacht’ where I got four bands for the price of one including current top Rockers Gov’t Mule and the legendary Deep Purple.
New additions to the Open Air concert Season at Bonn’s Kunst!Rasen include a return appearance from Zaz (03.07), a first appearance by Beth Hart after her popular Crossroads show in 2011 at the Harmonie (23.07), and Heino – who’s new CD ‘Mit freundlichen Grüssen’, a selection of Rock cover versions, has put the normally more sedately paced German legend firmly back in the public eye (18.08).
Add to this BAP, Brings, Katie Melua, Santana, a Rock Night with Deep Purple and Gov’t Mule not to mention Crosby, Stills & Nash – there is a lot to look forward to along with the return of Summer to Bonn.
The new addition to next years Kunst!Rasen is sure to be a popular event. The organisers are presenting a ‘Classic Rock Night’ on 14 July 2013 and already have two top acts on the Bill: Deep Purple and Gov’t Mule. The Purple ones are currently celebrating the 40 Anniversary of their classic release ‘Machinehead’ a record that brought the World one of Rock Music’s defining moments: ‘Highway Star’ and probably it’s most famous riff ‘Smoke on the Water’.
Tickets go onsale 17 November and with a concert start time of 3 pm more top Rock is sure to be added.
Bear in mind also that this concert offers a limited number of ‘Front of Stage’ and ‘Seated’ tickets so book early! BOOKING DETAILS HERE
