Introducing Kunst!Rasen
“Bonn is a young, dynamic City that needs young and dynamic concerts. Such music belongs to Bonn as much as that of Beethoven” Martin Nötzel.
On the same day as the Museumsplatz tent was folded up for the last time, new plans were being unfolded for live music just down the road. Here are the what’s, where’s and when’s behind Bonn’s new open air venue, the ‘Kunst!rasen’…
Museumsplatz – Your Memories?
I remember Pete Townsend jokingly referring to The Who working hard to become successful only to find themselves after all the struggles “playing outside of “a f***ing diner!” I remember too looking down on Tori Amos soundchecking, from the roof of the KAH. I remember a deafening blur of teenage screams as Tokio Hotel stepped onstage. Seeing Rod Stewart for the first time – and seeing Gary Moore for the last time… Let me know what YOU remember of the many Museumsplatz concerts.

Jason Becker-Very Much Alive
In 1989 Jason Becker was voted ‘Best Young Guitarist’ in the prestigious ‘Guitarist’ magazine and joined David Lee Roths Band. Whilst recording his first disc with Lee Roth however he was diagnosed with ALS, a motor neuron disease that doctors told him would rapidly not just end forever his ability to play guitar, but his ability to walk, speak and even breathe. He was given a life expectancy of perhaps five years. Now more than twenty years later, having devised a means of communication through eye movements, he has his own signature guitar on the market and a Film of his life has just been completed. The world premiere of ‘Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet’ is taking place at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California on Saturday, March 3rd.
