Coming your way this month…

Here’s a video featuring two artists that Blues and Rock fans  don’t want to even think about missing.

14 February sees Layla Zoe at Bonn Harmonie as part of the 2016 Blues Caravan Tour.  Later, 26 February, sees the first appearance in Cologne’s Yardclub of a young man I’ve heard great things about and discovered them to be true – Ben Poole.  Here they are together in Dortmund.  I recommend getting your BEN POOLE and BLUES CARAVAN TICKETS ASAP!

Reviews of the latest CD’s by Layla and Ben coming soon on 3songsbonn.com.

Folk Club 66 and Freedom!

FolkClbJan2016 (161 of 179)Friday’s theme at Bonn Folk Club in Haus Mullestümpe was ‘Freedom’ but it might also have been ‘Singer Songwriter; since we had a wonderful array of such musicians quite by chance.  They had something to live up to where it came to the special guest of the evening though – Canada’s David Blair holds three semi-finalist awards for the USA Billboard songwriting contest and is a popular man on stages in Europe these days.

Share Bill’s Blues…

Baum1Local Blues matadors Baum’s Bluesbenders are playing at Em Knollestüffje (Junkerstrasse 15)  in Bonn on 5 February.
A recent article on the band in Germany’s ‘BluesNews’ suggested the band with leader Bill Baum (pictured) might be making an album this year (astoundingly for such a popular veteran troupe, their first) Until then this is the best way to hear them.    7.30pm Free entry with minimum food/drinks order of 7 Euros.

Ina Forsman – RUF Records (RUF 1223)

CaptureLooking for yet another up and coming singer to check out?  I agree, there’s only so much time and money available in this busy and expensive world.  But if you DO have a space in your day and are looking for a new voice in the Soul/Blues/Jazz mould I suggest giving the debut CD by Finnish bombeshell Ina Forsman a spin.

Imagine Beth Hart and Amy Winehouse  meeting Nina Simone and they all have a ball…

Syrian born Aeham is this year’s winner of the Beethoven Prize and had a smile warm enough to keep everyone ringed around him in the freezing Winter air content even before he began playing and singing his native songs and melodies (and also a little Beethoven).
