Klassik!Picknik 2021

Sunday’s Klassik!Picknick on the Kunst!Rasen will be a rather different affair from previous years. No blankets on the ground or fold-up chairs, unfortunately, but still great music from a great local orchestra the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn (BOB for short).

Visitors will be able to sit in during the public dress rehearsal from 3.30 pm, or join for the KLASSIK!PICKNICK in the Rheinaue (Bonn Gronau) from 5 pm. The concert starts at 7 pm.

After the popular picnic had to pause in the past season, it’s great that there will be one this year – albeit under corona conditions of course.

As a prelude to the new concert season under the direction of general music director Dirk Kaftan, guests at the KUNST!RASEN will hear a popular program including works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Zequinha de Abreu and excerpts from the film music of “Back to the Future”. Star guest of the evening will be US singer Kim Sanders, who is set to perform “Ode to Joy”, the composition commissioned for Beethoven’s 250th birthday by Quincy Jones, for the first time in front of an audience.

Families, classical music fans (and those who want to become on) can immerse themselves in Bonn’s reawakened cultural life: Free admission, self-catering by bringing a picnic – or take up the offer of food and beverages on-site. All-in-all the promise of an entertaining time in Bonn’s green and pleasant Rhine meadows.
For a corona-compliant performance you will however have to reserve tickets online here (for dress rehearsal as well as for the concert)
