The ‘Kunst!Rasen’ is Here!

When Zaz is really here the leaves will be swept up!

It’s only a ‘mock-up’ picture, but come July 22 this is exactly where French Superstar Zaz will be. After endless speculation the location of Bonn’s new Open-air arena, and indeed it’s first acts, have been announced.

Bonn’s new premier concert location will be known as the ‘Kunst!Rasen’ (or ‘Arts-Lawn’ in english).  The concert season will run from 29 June to 29 July and will feature eight top-notch shows.  Two of these have now been announced by promoters Ernst-Ludwig Hartz and Martin Nötzel:

30 June – Jan Delay & Disko No.1. Start 7pm (entrance 5pm)

22 July – ZAZ + special guest.   Start: 6pm  (entrance 4.30pm)

Shows will take place on the lawn in front of the Post-Tower (U-Bahn Heussallee or Rheinau or Bus 610/611 Posttower/Johaniterkrankenhaus)

In Winter it’s a wet and windy place to be, indeed last year there were boats in the field after the Rhine flooded it.  In the Summer things will be very different though – and if it’s wet,  at least it will make a change from complaints about the chalky dust that clogged up shoes at the Museumsplatz.  In Zaz they certainly have one sure fire hit booked already see my report of her show here last year

Last arrangements still have to be made regarding soundproofing for the nearby Hospital – and then it will be all systems go for a new chapter in the history of live music in Bonn.  Six more acts have still to be named for the venue, so stay posted and keep all fingers firmly crossed that Bonn has a new top venue for International Music – The people of Bonn deserve it, and so do the promoters who have tenaciously kept going through all the setbacks.  Gentlemen – thank you!  Now lets support the shows!
