Well, it must be said that the names were certainly attention getters in the final week of this year’s JazzTube competition: Waldek Leczkowski’s Orange Fusion Beat Featuring Albert N’Danda, Peter Protschka’s Organic Universe and the more sedately monikored Radius. But, as the saying goes, ‘what’s in a name?‘. Names don’t play Jazz, people do, and what do the people passing by make of it? A last chance to find out in 2017.
Congratulations to Juan who is winner of the 3songsbonn Steve Hill competition and receives two guest passes for Sunday’s concert at the Harmonie. Thanks to everyone who took part!
‘The most spectacular one man band on the planet!’. Canadian Steve Hill is something of a sensation on the music scene. In 2015 he picked up a heap of prestigious Canadian awards in the Blues with a Juno Blues album of the year, Maple Blues Award for electric act of the year, guitarist of the year, Recording/Producer of the year and Entertainer of the Year.
If you’re a Blues/Rock fan looking for something completely different, look no further than Bonn Harmonie on 24th September. Still doubtful? 3songsbonn is offering two guest-list places for the show. All you need to do is answer the following question: In which year did Canadian Blues legend Jeff Healey die? Email me at 3songsbonn@gmx.de with the correct answer and the first name out of the hat with the correct answer wins!
Competition closes at midnight on Thursday 21 September

The Harmonie has opened it’s doors as a live venue once again following the short Summer break. One to watch already in October is the Rockpalast Crossroads Festival. Always a popular event, the final day (Triggerfinger and The Wake Woods) is already completely sold out, so don’t wait too long to get your tickets. Full four day tickets were available when I wrote this but by the time of reading it there are no guarantees.

A week on from my last JazzTube report and what’s changed? There are less people listening at the tube stations wearing shorts for sure, oh, and when I emerge from the station at Museumsmile there is less daylight than previously. The music? well that’s changed in styles but thankfully not in quality. Jentgens6tett, Deep Talk and The Moreno-Rosario Quartet all ensured an enjoyable way to wind down after a hard week’s work.

Moritz Preisler Trio
Hard to believe but we’ve now reached the halfway point in this year’s JazzTube. Week three saw the usual enjoyable mix of styles that has come to characterize the Tube where three stages offer the musical equivelants of carrots, chalk and cheese. Different colours, styles and flavours with only that ethereal chameleon called Jazz to link them.
You certainly couldn’t fault the enthusiasm of Dennis and Marvin Ledermann at Bonn Folk Club last Friday. This was, as Dennis was keen to point out, “Where it all began”. Outside, a table filled with T shirts, stickers and CD’s showed where it’s currently got to. It also held the reason for the brothers appearance this evening – The release of Bromo‘s debut CD ‘Brother Movement’.
