John Lee Hooker Jr – Not JLH Sr Rebooted

What would Muddy Waters be playing now if he were still with us, and wanted to appeal to the music loving public of today?  Elvis?  Buddy Holly?  The music would have to have evolved into something a little more complex than those Blues standards we know and love.  Maybe a listen to their offspring would bring answers.  In the case of John Lee Hooker there was a chance to match that typical Hooker growl with a 21st Century sound and style as Hookers highly rated son, John Lee Hooker Jr, took to the Harmonie stage last week.

Kessenich Herbstmarkt with Marion and Sobo

Two pleasant surprises last Sunday.  One, it was a precious sunny day before the Autumn sets in, and two Marion and Sobo‘s appearance as ‘Vor-Gruppe’ for the General Election countdown at last Sunday’s Kessenich Autumn Market.  As always, a pleasure to hear Alexander Sobocinski’s Jazz/Gypsyswing guitar playing and  Marion Lenfant-Preus with her silky smoothe vocals playing tracks from their Migrateurs CD – which was fittingly recorded just up the road at the Blue in Green studio in Burbacherstrasse.  CLICK HERE FOR THE PHOTO  GALLERY

Win Tickets for the Harmonie

Steve_Hill‘The most spectacular one man band on the planet!’.  Canadian Steve Hill is something of a sensation on the music scene. In 2015 he picked up a heap of prestigious Canadian awards in the Blues with a Juno Blues album of the year, Maple Blues Award for electric act of the year, guitarist of the year, Recording/Producer of the year and Entertainer of the Year.

If you’re a Blues/Rock fan looking for something completely different, look no further than Bonn Harmonie on 24th September.  Still doubtful?  3songsbonn is offering two guest-list places for the show.  All you need to do is answer the following question:  In which year did Canadian Blues legend Jeff Healey die?  Email me at 3songsbonn@gmx.de with the correct answer and the first name out of the hat with the correct answer wins!
Competition closes at midnight on Thursday 21 September

The Harmonie has opened it’s doors as a live venue once again following the short Summer break.  One to watch already in October is the Rockpalast Crossroads Festival.  Always a popular event, the final day (Triggerfinger and The Wake Woods) is already completely sold out, so don’t wait too long to get your tickets.  Full four day tickets were available when I wrote this but by the time of reading it there are no guarantees.
