Ana Popovic – Unconditional

A cover to catch the eye of blues fans

Ana Popovic is set to make a big impression in the Blues CD racks with her new CD Unconditional. The cover is a stunner, with Ana stripped bare and the CD itself promises musically to be back to the bare blues essentials too.   Recorded at the Piety Street Recording Studios in New Orleans it’s a joint production between Grammy Award winning producer John Porter and Ana herself who says of the three months she spent in New Orleans:

“It’s vibe, spirit and optimism… influenced the album in more ways than just musically”.

Eclectogroove promises the new Cd will be a “soulful fusion of contemporary and classic blues”. The Cd will also feature the  considerable slide guitar talents of Sonny Landreth and Bluesharp maestro Jason Ricci.

Eight of the albums twelve tracks are Popovic originals , two are co-written with partner Mark Van Meurs and there are further songs gleaned from blues legends revered by Ana: Buddy Guy, Otis Spann and Nina Simone.

Ultimately. As Ana says, the album title is a description of how she feels  when the band plugs in to play and bassist Ronald Jonker announces “Miss Ana Popovic!”:

”I only feel. I hate to think when I’m playing. I only feel. Unconditional is how I stand towards my music”.

‘Unconditional’ will released by Eclectogroove Records in August.
